Beginnings
The group’s first meeting was on Saturday, July 2nd, 2011, at Lifepointe Church in Hutto. At that time, the group met on Thursdays and Saturdays. The founding members were a married couple that one day said that they were going on vacation, leaving the group key with a newer group member. The couple never came back from their vacation. That trusted group member, who still attends meetings today, became responsible for the group. The early days of the group had low attendance, with eight people in a meeting being a large crowd. We were barely keeping up with rent and not consistently paying AA dues. One day, that trusted group member turned to the only other alcoholic in the meeting and asked, “Why are we doing this? There’s no one here.” The other group member said in reply, “It’s kept us sober, ain’t it?” We continued to keep the doors open in the hopes of future growth and for the benefit of helping alcoholics who still suffer.
Continued Growth
The group moved from Lifepointe Church to Hutto Bible Church and had its first meeting at the new location on Thursday, June 25th, 2020. During this period, the group continued to grow and in 2021 expanded first to a Big Book meeting on Mondays and later to a 12 & 12 meeting on Tuesdays.

Current Space
The group again moved from Hutto Bible Church to Hutto Discovery United Methodist Church and had its first meeting at the new location on Saturday, March 29th, 2025. While previous meeting spaces were shared for childcare purposes, this new space is dedicated exclusively for AA meetings. At this new location, the group again expanded to a Wednesday Beginner meeting for a total of five meetings per week. From its inception, Hutto Fellowship Group has always been intimate, casual, and foremost focused on the essential principles of AA. We continue to welcome newcomers, visitors, and established AA members.
